Dr. Boutoutaou is a petroleum geochemist with 32 years of professional experience, specialising in exploration and production development strategies with excellent geochemical interpretation and integration skills of all types of geochemical data including source rocks and fluids (oil, condensate, and gas).
He started his career as a petroleum geochemist, working for Sonatrach, focusing on the major Paleozoic basins across the Saharan platform in Algeria.
More recent experiences portray excellent industry knowledge, encompassing best practice techniques and an astute approach to a variety of single and multi-disciplinary projects, worldwide, including the North Sea UK and Norway, Gulf of Mexico, the North and South Atlantic margins, North and East Africa, the Middle East and the Far East (Pakistan, India, Thailand, Mongolia, Australia, and New Zealand). This was a result of 15 years working as a Senior and Chief Petroleum Geochemist for one of the market leaders in the sector, Fugro-Robertson, and CGG Robertson.
He has developed and maintained top quality and competitive geochemistry business whilst working for Fugro-Robertson and CGG Robertson. He oversaw the petroleum geochemistry department and was responsible for sustaining business development, project management, development of workflows, innovation, data quality control (QC), mentoring and training staff, project supervision, and technical/peer review for all the geochemical projects.
He holds MSc and PhD degrees in Petroleum Geochemistry and went to the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom. He has several publications and has made several oral presentations at internal and international meetings.
Dr. Haager is a Senior Organic Gechemsit with 37 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry providing expertise in interpreting geochemical data to achieve a better understanding of petroleum systems.
Dr. Haager received her diploma in geology and doctorate in organic geochemistry from the Technical University in Aachen (RWTH). Her PhD research on the petroleum potential and effects of primary migration in Carboniferous coals and source rocks in the Ruhr Area, Germany was carried out at the Institute for Petroleum and Organic Geochemistry at the Nuclear Research Centre (KFA) in Jülich, Germany.
Subsequently, she immigrated to Canada, doing research on oil shales at the Geological Survey of Canada. She joined Petro Canada as a consultant, designing and supervising analytical programs and doing basin evaluations as well as basin modelling offshore and onshore Canada, on the North Slope of Alaska, and in shale gas basins in the US. International work included the Middle East, Africa, South America, and Asia.
In 2012, she joined Fugro-Robertson in the UK and in 2013 transferred back to Calgary to continue working for CGG Robertson Geoconsulting. She worked on projects and data compilations in Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, Morocco, and Mexico as well as in the North Sea applying organic geochemistry, basin analysis as well as basin modelling (PetroMod and ZetaWare).
Since 2016, she is working at Target GeoConsulting in Calgary.
Dr. Haager is registered as a professional geologist with APEGA and is a member of CSPG and EAOG.
Jamal is a multi-disciplinary geologist with a successful track record over 35 years in the Canadian and international oil and gas industry. He provided management, technical and operational leadership for operating oil companies and independent consulting firms.
His expertise encompasses exploration, carbonate sedimentology, geochemistry/basin analysis, reservoir characterisation, and conventional & unconventional reserves/resource assessments. With Petrel Robertson in Calgary, he worked extensively on projects throughout North America (Western Canada, onshore USA, and Mexico) specialising in carbonate plays and localisation of subtle/diagenetic traps. Internationally, Dr. Madi worked mainly as explorationist and carbonate expert for Occidental, Petro-Canada, Madison PetroGas (now SDX Energy), and Allied Petroleum exploration. He was involved in numerous discoveries in many parts of the world.
Recently, Jamal partnered with artificial intelligence experts and developed a software that delivers resources assessment almost instantaneously (see our Flyer).
Jamal has extensive board experience with start-ups. In 2006 he was one of the founders of Madison (now SDX Energy) and then in 2010 he founded Allied Petroleum Exploration (APEX) (www.alliedpetro.ca), which was acquired in September 2020 by the god’ father of unconventional plays, EOG Resources Inc.
Jamal holds a PhD degree and went to Laval & McGill Universities, Canada. He is a Professional Geologist (APEGA), and member of AAPG, SCPG, CSEG and SPE. He published technical papers in AAPG Bulletins, Sedimentology, Facies, SPE, and made presentation talks and posters in technical AAPG, CSPG, SPE conventions in USA, Canada and Middle-East.
Elhadi .M. Belhadj is a senior petroleum geologist engineer with 30+years’ experience working at geochemistry laboratory of research division at Algeria’ national oil company, Sonatrach. Having also graduated from the Algerian Petroleum Institute, Belhadj has developed his expertise in geoscience and multiple aspects of hydrocarbon exploration, organic geochemistry, basin modelling, and petroleum systems evaluation of all the Saharan basins and the Atlasic system of northern Algeria, evaluating basin Geodynamics, stratigraphy, and structural deformation. Distinct projects include taking charge of a multi-disciplinary E/P research projects and involvement in the reflexion team concerning the Research organisation at Sonatrach (Sonatrach / Mc Kinsey).
In 2008, he joined Jamal’s company (Allied Petroleum Exploration) in Calgary, taking part in the assessment of projects pursued all over Africa and the Middle East. He was one of the key geoscientists (with Djamel Boutouatou and Jamal Madi) involved in the geochemical studies carried out on Block 36, Oman. Elhadi has also participated in numerous technical conferences and published scientific paper on the Cretaceous Black-shales of North Africa.
